Description

GENERAL PURPOSE: The general purpose of this position is to work with customers to coordinate maintenance (repair, paint / coating, cleaning) events on railcars (e.g., tank, hopper, and other freight cars) that are in agreement with FRA, AAR, and customer requirements and Rescar service capabilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary customer contact, answering customer questions and requests related to services on railcar maintenance.
  • Evaluate en-route notifications from customers ensuring Rescar has received appropriate information (e.g., MSDS, cleaning certificate, drawings, shop instructions, shop records, etc.) to service railcars.
  • Prepare railcar file to ensure Plant has the appropriate forms, documentation, drawings and information to service railcar.
  • Communicate railcar maintenance expectations, perspectives and requirements between Plant operations team and the customer.
  • Monitor and track railcar movements in and out of railcar maintenance centers and resolve any items that are causing service delays to meet work order deadlines.
  • Enter and update data in computer systems to reflect accurate dates, car status changes, and notifications on railcar maintenance activities.
  • Develops daily, weekly, and monthly railcar status reports.
  • Manage documents / data and communicates important information such as customer requirements, shop instructions, and technical specifications to appropriate team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 4 years experience in railcar maintenance planning and fleet management.
  • Experience in Tank car repair, Freight car repair (all car types), railcar cleaning, and railcar coating.
  • Industry knowledge of AAR and FRA rules, and Tank Regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of customer organization.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office applications, Repair / Rail systems, and Fleet Management Software.

Work Environment / Conditions:

  • Heavy Industrial Plant Environment
  • Working around heavy moving equipment
  • Work in high places and confined areas
  • Climb, squat, bend, twist, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds or more to accomplish work tasks
  • Use of respirator as required
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
