Rescar Essential business designation

3/21/2020

My fellow employees,

I know there is a lot of confusion for those of you who live in states with "shelter in place" orders. However, if you read the actual orders, many activities and types of businesses are exempt. Basic needs like grocery shopping, medical care, obtaining medicine, etc., are essential businesses and still open, and traveling for these and other basic life needs is still permitted. These orders are really directed at groups of people. Most importantly, for us, Rescar and AIITranstek truly are deemed essential businesses and we can play a big part in helping all Americans survive this crisis by ensuring the continued flow of products by rail.

Nevertheless, I know many of you are understandably concerned and worried about your own health and safety and I want you to know I share those concerns. We have undertaken many steps to clean, disinfect, and "social distance" our office space, and we are going to continue to do so going forward. We are also taking steps to have as many employees as possible work remotely and will continue that effort this week as well. For those still coming in to the office or commuting to/from customers, based on official announcements from the government  and law enforcement  officials in all states with "shelter in place"  orders, all roads remain open and I do not  believe you will have any problem  commuting to the office or for business. However, just in case, I have prepared a letter (attached) explaining the  situation. You should keep this e-mail with the letter attached on your cell phone.

In a way, our business being deemed essential is really something we should be thankful for as many other people have temporarily lost their jobs as a result of this crisis. It is also something that allows us to serve to help everyone and that we can be proud of! I am certainly proud of all of you and thankful for your efforts over the past 10 days or so, and I know you will continue to do the great job you are doing.
